CHAPEL HILL – Lauren White of North Mecklenburg High School and Colby Meador of Rockingham County High School have been named the recipients of the Clary Medals awarded by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.
The two outstanding student-athletes will be recognized at the NCHSAA’s Annual Meeting on May 3 at the Dean E. Smith Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
CHAPEL HILL—Over 10,000 individual awards have been given by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association to student-athletes for their achievements in the classroom as well as on the playing court or athletic field.
The NCHSAA made the awards in its Scholar-Athlete program, which includes recognition of varsity teams which attain certain grades as well as individual athletes.
Wachovia Bank, N.A., along with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, today announced the standings after the winter sports seasons in the Wachovia Cup competitions for the 2006-07 academic year.
The Wachovia Cup award, sponsored by Wachovia Bank, N.A., and the NCHSAA, recognizes the high schools that achieve the best overall interscholastic athletic performance within each of the state’s four competitive classifications. The Wachovia Cup program is in its 28th year.
There are still over 40 spring eligiblity lists that have not been submitted. Fines ($50) for failing to submit this form will be mailed out on Friday March 23. RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK-- The North Carolina High School Athletic Association held its spring 2007 Coach-Captain Retreat over the weekend of March 16-18, the 25th in a series of successful events.
The event, part of the Association’s Student Services program, was held at the Radisson Governors Inn in late October and attracted students from all over North Carolina.

WINSTON-SALEM -- Two-time defending champion Cary made it three in a row by rolling to the team title in the 2007 North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 4-A wrestling championships on Saturday night at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Winners of the Sectional Finals need to report their score on the online score reporting system, this will advance the winning school on the Sectional Brackets. Pairings for regionals will be posted on the regional brackets Monday morning.
