CARY– Green Hope High School officially inducted the first four members of its sports hall of fame at halftime of a recent football game, according to a report in the Raleigh News and Observer.

       The first members of the Green Hope Hall of Fame include the school’s first Olympian, first female state champion, a PGA Tour golfer and its longest-serving volunteer.

       The charter members of the Hall include Hector Cotto (class of 2002), Don D’Ambrosi, Chris Brady Wolfe (class of 2002) and Brendon Todd (class of 2003).

       Cotto played football and ran track while at Green Hope and later became the first Green Hope graduate to complete in the Olympics.  A collegiate standout at East Carolina. Cotto was a hurdler for Puerto Rico in both the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics.

       D’Ambrosi was a great volunteer for the school and served as the public address voice of Falcon athletics for more than a decade.  He announced every home football and both men’s and women’s basketball game during that stretch and also announced several conference tournament games.  He was awarded a a “lifetime membership” by the Green Hope athletic booster club for his service to the school.

       Wolfe, who later played collegiately at Vanderbilt and was a four-time all-SEC selection, was the first female individual NCHSAA state champion in school history. She captured the 2000 women’s golf state title as Chris Brady one year after the school opened.   She was an NCAA All-American in 2007 and played on the LPGA tour as well as the Futures tour.

       Todd was a three-time NCHSAA men’s golf champion who went to have a great collegiate career and is now on the PGA tour. He is ranked 49th in the world and won the 2014 Byron Nelson Classic for his first tour win. Todd was 12th in the British Open Championship at St. Andrews Golf Club in 2015.
