Patton Names New Coaches

     MORGANTON—Patton High School has made a couple of coaching assignments, according to various media reports including the Hickory Daily Record and the Morganton News-Herald.

     Jeff McCarrick is the school’s new varsity women’s basketball coach and Autumn Ward will take over the volleyball program.

     McCarrick has been an assistant coach at Patton and is a math teacher at the school. He replaces Chip Lewis, who had been the head coach for the last three years,

     McCarrick’s coaching experience includes 13 years as the Table Rock Middle School boys’ basketball coach to go with seven seasons coaching in New York at the junior high and junior varsity levels.

     Patton’s girls went 9-15 a year ago.

     Ward, is a graduate of McDowell High who played college basketball at Mars Hill, is the Panthers’ new varsity volleyball head coach and will also assist with the basketball program.

     Ward coached and taught one year at Owen Middle School in Black Mountain.

Ward becomes Patton’s fourth volleyball coach in as many years.
