Cherryville Baseball takes time to cheer on local students before E.O.G. Testing
Cherryville, N.C. – The people of Cherryville love their Ironmen Baseball, and that feeling is mutual. The Baseball Ironmen demonstrated some of their appreciation for the local community during the busy week of the Regional Finals. Head Coach Scott Heavner and his varsity baseball team took time out of their day to go and greet Middle School and Elementary School students in their community as they were coming into school to take the annual End of Grade exams.
The Ironmen greeted students Wednesday morning last week at Beam Intermediate, Cherryville Elementary and Tryon Elementary, wishing them good luck as they took the important tests. Despite a late night after Tuesday night’s Regional Championship victory over Walkertown, the Ironmen were full of smiles and energy the next morning to cheer on the kids in their community.
Now their community has the chance to cheer on the Ironmen in Friday and Saturday’s NCHSAA 1A State Championship Series against the two-time defending champions, the Whiteville Wolfpack, this weekend at Five County Stadium in Zebulon. The 1A State Championship series game one is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday, June 3, with game two set for 2 p.m. on Saturday.
