STUDENTS FROM OVERHILLS & COX MILL EARN PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK AWARDS

CHAPEL HILL— Haleigh Stackpole from Overhills High School and Kayne Pfeifer from Cox Mill High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards, powered by Spectrum SportsChannel.

Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators.

Stackpole, a junior on the Women’s Soccer team, scored 18 goals in three games, all wins for the Jaguars. She added five assists over the course of those games and now has 32 goals on the season and 100 in her career. Her largest outburst came against Cape Fear when she tallied eight goals in the 9-0 win over the Colts.

Pfeifer, a junior on the Cox Mill baseball team, had a great three-game week. He batted .667 with a pair of home runs, nine RBI’s and a double over the week. He hit both homers, one of them a grand slam, in the same inning as the Chargers blasted past South Rowan 17-1. He reached base at a .750 clip during the three Cox Mill wins.

Spectrum SportsChannel typically announces the winners of the awards during its Sports Night show and will recognize the winners throughout the week. Weekly recipients will also be recognized via Twitter and Facebook. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
