STUDENTS FROM COX MILL & HOGGARD EARN PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK AWARDS

CHAPEL HILL— Courtney Weber from Cox Mill High School and Cameron Thayer from Hoggard High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards.

Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators.

Weber, a senior setter on the defending 3A State Champion volleyball team, had a stellar week compiling 140 assists, 28 digs, 11 kills and 15 service aces in four games this week. Her best performance came against Marvin Ridge with 63 assists and 17 digs to go with 5 kills. She is committed to the University of South Carolina to continue her volleyball career next year.

Thayer, a junior on the Viking soccer team, put up nine goals during a three-game week. He added three assists for good measure as Hoggard beat West Carteret, West Brunswick and cross-county rival Laney. He had five goals and an assist in the win versus West Carteret.

Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year in the spring. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
