CHAPEL HILL— Brooke Zettel from Apex Friendship High School and Gaston Moise from Union Academy have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.
Brooke, a Senior on the Apex Friendship Swim team, set a new all-classification state meet record in the 200 Individual Medley at the 4A State Swimming Championship on Saturday with a time of 1:56.71. This was Brooke’s second medal of the day as she also took silver in the 100 Breaststroke.
Gaston, a Senior on the Union Academy Soccer team, led the Cardinals to a 6-3 win over Mountain Island Charter on Monday. Moise scored five goals and assisted on the sixth to top the Raptors.
Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
