CHAPEL HILL— Jalin Burris from Research Triangle High School and Natae Bailey from Person High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.
Burris, a senior on the Research Triangle Basketball team, set a school record on Tuesday with 37 points on 14-22 shooting in a win over Cornerstone. Burris averaged 27 points per game as he led the Raptors to a 3-0 record for the week.
Bailey, a senior on the Person Basketball team, led the Rockets to two wins last week averaging 16.5 points, 5.5 assists, and 5 rebounds. On Tuesday, the senior point guard led the way against Rockingham County by knocking down 5 three-pointers in the third quarter.
Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
