CHAPEL HILL— Shawnti Jackson from Cardinal Gibbons High School and Alyssa Preisano from Cuthbertson High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.
Jackson, a Sophomore on the Cardinal Gibbons Track and Field team won two events at the Cap 7 Conference Championship this week. Jackson ran an 11.55 100M and is part of the 4x100m relay that ran 47.96. Both times are school records and are the fastest in NCHSAA competition for their respective events this season.
Preisano, a Sophomore on the Cuthbertson Track and Field team, is a member of the 4x800m relay team that recorded a time of 9:28, the fastest in NCHSAA competition this season. She also set a new school record in the 800m with a time of 2:18, which is the 9th fastest in NCHSAA competition this season.
