CHAPEL HILL— Emily Carver from Enka High School and Jamarien Dalton from North Davidson High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.
Carver, a Senior on the Enka Basketball team, set a new NCHSAA State Record by knocking down 13 three-pointers in a single game. Her record-breaking performance culminated with a career-high 48 points in a win over Tuscola on Friday. Carver has led the Jets to an 8-0 record this season.
Dalton, a senior on the North Davidson Basketball team, scored 50 points in a win over Thomasville on Friday, shooting 15-23 from the field and a perfect 17-17 from the free-throw line. Dalton led the Black Knights to a 3-0 record on the week and a 7-0 record to begin the season.
Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
