CHAPEL HILL— Jamie Holton from Manteo High School and Marqies McCombs from Chase High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.
Holton, a Senior on the Manteo Volleyball team put down 28 total kills with just 8 errors on 65 total attempts through two games. Also serving as the team’s second setter, Holton set a total of 54 balls and accumulated 13 assists with no ball-handling errors.
McCombs, a Junior on the Chase Football team recorded 300 yards on 20 carries and 5 rushing touchdowns. McCombs also returned a 90-yard kickoff for a touchdown finishing Friday night’s contest with 435 all-purpose yards and 6 total touchdowns.
