This week the NCHSAA recognizes Cassidy Geddes of Newton-Conover High School. Geddes, a junior on the women’s basketball team had an excellent showing in the first three rounds of the NCHSAA basketball playoffs. Through the first 3 games, she has averaged 30.3 points per game. During the second playoff win over Wheatmore, Geddes had 39 points, 13 rebounds, 7 steals, 3 assists and 1 block. In the 3rd playoff game, in a win over North Surry, she ended the matchup with 34 points, 8 steals, 2 assists, and 1 block. She has also been a 3-year starter for Newton-Conover.
We also recognize Emily Hege, a senior on the North Davidson Women’s basketball team. Hege Scored 44 points, 11 rebounds 3 assists, 3 blocks and 2 steals in the 1st round of the 3A West State basketball playoffs. The North Davidson Black Knights won the game 82-52 due to her tremendous performance and her teams outstanding play. Emily’s career total now stands at 2231 pts which puts her 29 on North Carolinas all-time list.
