2021-2022 WEEK 5 | Performance of the Week, Powered by OrthoCarolina

CHAPEL HILL— Sydney Kendall-Eason from Jack Britt High School and Sergio Merida from East Rutherford High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators. 

Kendall-Eason, a Junior on the Jack Britt Volleyball team, led the Buccaneers to a 2-0 record last week.  In 7 sets Sydney recorded 24 kills, 6 aces, 4 blocks, and 17 assists, capping wins over Cape Fear and Lumberton.

Merida, a Junior on the East Rutherford Soccer team, scored two goals in the Cavaliers’ overtime win against Brevard on Monday.  His 2 goals broke the school record for most in a career with 45 total.

Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages.  The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
