WINSTON-SALEM – The NCHSAA 2025 NCHSAA Indoor Track & Field Championships crown winners on February 14 and 15, 2025.
Cummings wins 12th Women’s Title; Seaforth wins Men’s Championship
WINSTON-SALEM – The Cummings Women and the Seaforth Men claimed the top spots at the 2025 North Carolina High School Athletic Association 1A/2A Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday night at the JDL Fast Track.
After finishing two points behind Swain County in the 2024 Championships, the Cavaliers outscored the Maroon Devils by 5.5 points this year as the two teams swapped places on the podium. This is the 12th Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championship for Cummings.
The Cavaliers were led by junior D’Anna Cotton, who won the Most Valuable Player award for the second year in a row. Cotton won the Long Jump, Triple Jump, and High Jump (tying the meet record) and took second in the 55-meter Hurdles.
Cotton was also MVP of the outdoor 2A meet in 2024.
The Maroon Devils were led by Arizona Blankenship, who added to her impressive collection of NCHSAA State Championships with first place finishes in the 3200- and 1600-Meter events. She also ran a leg for the 4×800 Meter Relay team that took first place.
In the men’s competition, the Seaforth Hawks claimed the first championship in program history after finishing in seventh place in 2024.
The Hawks dominated in the distance events as three-time defending Cross Country Champion Jack Anstrom won the 3200 for the second year in a row. Will Cuicchi won the 1000 with a new 1A/2A meet record-setting time and took second in the 1600, and Sebastian Calderon won the 500.
Ryan Yoder won the Pole Vault for the Hawks as well.
Farmville Central finished as runner-up in the event with 37 points, 25 points behind Seaforth. The Jaguars were led by Cameron Sessoms, who won the 55-meter Hurdles and ran the opening leg of the 4×200 relay team that took second.
T.W. Andrews, which finished in fifth, was led by Ja’Neil Harris as he won the 55-Meter and the 300-Meter, setting a new state record in the 300 with a time of 33.96. Harris was named the Most Valuable Player for his performance on the night.

The Association has partnered with the North Carolina Farm Bureau to award a pair of Sportsmanship Awards at each championship event, recognizing players who have demonstrated the ideals of outstanding character and sportsmanship throughout the 2024-25 season. The winners of the 1A/2A Indoor Track and Field Farm Bureau Sportsmanship Awards were Diamond Moore from Cummings, Faith Woodard from Swain County, Will Cuicchi from Seaforth, and Jalice Payton from Farmville Central.
Dudley Panthers Sweep 3A Indoor Track and Field Championships
WINSTON-SALEM – The Dudley Panthers swept the 2025 NCHSAA 3A Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at the JDL Fast Track. The win completes a three-peat for the women’s team but is the first championship for the men.
North Lincoln finished as runner up and they were led by Olivia Ferraro. Ferraro won the 1000, 1600 and took third in the 3200. She was named the Most Valuable Player for her performance in the meet.
Southern Guilford took third and Atkins finished in fourth place on the team leaderboard. Franklin finished in fifth.
In the men’s competition, Dudley racked up 81 points to finish well clear of Croatan, which had 57.5, in second place.
Derrick Hicks, Ashton Thomas, Darion Coleman, and Kamaal Ryan won the 4×400 Meter Relay for Dudley, and Le’Ezra Brown won the 55 Meter Hurdles.
Croatan’s Seth Nelson, Riley Robinson, Cooper Stephens, and Noah Guerrero won the 4×800 Meter Relay, and Guerrero also won the 1000 Meter.
Union Pines, which finished in third, was led by Jaydon Sterling, who took fourth in the Triple Jump, second in the Long Jump, and won the 300 Meter Race. He was named the Most Valuable Player for his efforts.

Cardinal Gibbons, Mallard Creek grab 4A Indoor Track and Field Titles
WINSTON-SALEM – The Cardinal Gibbons Women and the Mallard Creek Men claimed the 2025 NCHSAA 4A Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday evening at the JDL Fast Track.
It is the first Indoor Track and Field Championship for Mallard Creek and the second for Cardinal Gibbons. It is the Crusaders’ first 4A Championship, as they won the 1A/2A/3A Championship in 2011.
In the women’s competition, the Crusaders’ 4×800 Meter Relay team of Maggie Whitham, Addy Mitchell, Kaitlyn Estep and Hannah Rae Shaffer won by more than 10 seconds. Estep also took the top spot in the 1000 Meter Race and Shaffer took second in 1600 and won the 3200.
Tessa Kranick tied for first in the pole vault for the Crusaders as well.
Cuthbertson’s streak of seven consecutive championships (excluding the COVID-19 year) came to an end with a runner-up finish this year.
The Cavalier’s Juli D’Errico, Cece Taft, Ava Walters, and Josie Schihl took second in the 4×800 Meter Relay. The Cuthbertson also took fourth place in the 4×200 Meter Relay.
Maya Love from Independence won the Most Valuable Player Award as she won the 55-meter dash and the 300-meter race and ran the first leg of the 4×200-meter relay-winning team.
In the men’s competition, the Mavericks were powered by a strong showing in the relays.
Mason Kelly, Khalil Price, Christian Dixon, and Nassor Ashenafi won the 4×200-meter relay, and Nyan Brown, Price, Justin Watts, and Kelly won the 4×400-meter relay. The Mavericks also took second in the 4×800.
Brown also won the 55 Meter Hurdles and Dixon won the 55 Meter Dash
Cuthbertson finished in second place in the men’s competition as well, and they were led by Tommy Pringle II, who won the High Jump, and Houston Tillotson took third in the same event. Robert Lausen, Brenden Robbins, Aronne Cosentino, and Davian Hall took second in the 4×200-meter relay.
Enloe’s Alexander Chapman-Evans won the Long Jump, took second in the Triple Jump, and finished seventh in the 55 Meter Hurdles on his way to winning the Most Valuable Player Award.
