EAST LINCOLN SECURES SECOND STRAIGHT REGIONAL TITLE BEATING FOREST HILLS
Steady shooting East Lincoln shot their way past Forest Hills in the 2A Men’s West Regional Final 64-52.
The Mustangs shot a blistering 54.3% from the floor on the night and 36.4% from beyond the arc. The Surratt brothers powered the East Lincoln attack as junior Sage Surratt dropped 32 points while securing nine rebounds. Older brother Chazz Surratt had 17 points and 13 rebounds as well.
Forest Hills had three players in double figures as Jordan Blakeney went for 13, Zaccheus Rorie had 11 and Desmond Lindsey chipped in 10. East Lincoln held the Yellow Jackets to just 30.4% from the floor for the game and under 30% in the first half when the Mustangs built a five point halftime lead.
East Lincoln makes their second straight appearance in the state championship game. Last year the Mustangs fell to Kinston 60-43.
