TERRY SANFORD RUNS PAST EASTERN ALAMANCE INTO SECOND STRAIGHT REGIONAL TITLE
The defending 3A State Champions, Terry Sanford, looked the part in the Eastern Regional Final as they downed Eastern Alamance 61-49. The Bulldogs saw four players finish with ten points or more on the evening.
Despite being out-rebounded 40-36, the Bulldogs capitalized on offensive efficiency, shooting 42.6% from the floor while holding the Eagles to 35.8%. Terry Sanford also forced 17 turnovers scoring 15 points off of those Eastern miscues.
Telligence Johnson led the way for Terry Sanford with 17 points and nine rebounds, finishing just one rebound shy of a double-double. Isaiah Stallings added 12 points for the Bulldogs while Malik Johnson and Justin King each scored 10.
Eastern Alamance also had four players in double figures as Rashad Reed had 13 to pace the Eagles. They got 11 points from a trio of Hayden Mann, Cedarius Williams and John Lamot.
Terry Sanford returns to the State Championship game for the 4th time in school history where they will face Jay M. Robinson on Saturday in Chapel Hill. The Bulldogs defeated Ashbrook to win last year’s 3A crown 67-60.
