Heart of a Champion Award
Heart of a Champion recognizes Student-Athletes from NCHSAA Members schools who have participated in at least one varsity sport or cheerleading and remained ejection-free during the school year. NCHSAA Members schools can nominate one female and one male student-athlete. These students also exemplify outstanding citizenship and sportsmanship. The recipients will be recognized at the Awards Celebration.
The program is open to any eligible student-athletes or cheerleaders.
The student must have participated in at least one varsity sport during the previous school year.
The student must not have received any ejections for the school year.
The student must have demonstrated outstanding citizenship and sportsmanship during their high school tenure.

Sponsored by the National Federation of State High School Associations, this award was established to recognize those individuals who exemplify the ideals of the positive spirit of sport that represents the core mission of education-based athletics. It is given in recognition of a specific act or an activity of a longer duration.
The goal of the NCHSAA is to solicit nominations from the membership and select a state winner. The recipient will be recognized at the Annual Meeting, and his or her application will be submitted to the NFHS for the national award. All nominees will receive a certificate of recognition.
Nominees can be a coach, athletic administrator, official, trainer, student-athlete, or others associated with the school’s athletic program.
