Jenkins Leaving South Lenoir

DEEP RUN—Tim Jenkins is leaving South Lenoir High School to take a teaching and coaching job at East Duplin, according to a report in the Kinston Free Press.

Jenkins had gone to South Lenoir from Wallace-Rose Hill to take the head baseball position, and then later was appointed as the head varsity football coach as well.

He guided the Blue Devils to a share of the East Central Conference championship in the spring of 2012 in his only season at the helm. The football team posted a 1-10 mark in the fall.

Jenkins will be on the staff of East Duplin head football coach Battle Holley. The two had coached together at Wallace-Rose Hill.

The search is underway to fill the baseball position at South Lenoir. Jenkins had replaced veteran coach Troy Eason on the diamond, who had coached 28 seasons and had earned 346 victories at South Lenoir.
