CLEMSON— Former Chapel Hill High School swimmer Kerry McLaughlin has earned a prestigious award at Clemson University, according to The Chapel Hill News.
She was recently named as Clemson’s top female scholar-athlete for the 2011-12 academic year, part of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s efforts to recognize the top male and female scholar-athlete at each ACC institution.
A Phi Beta Kappa honoree, McLaughlin graduated summa cum laude in May with her degree in biological sciences and a minor in Spanish.
She was an all-PAC Six swimmer all four years at Chapel Hill and swam on a couple of NCHSAA state champion relay teams during her high school career.
