First Responders

Welcome to the website dedicated to the First Responders serving at NCHSAA member schools.

First Responders (FR) will find educational requirements that are taken directly from NCAC 16 06E .0206, formally known as State Board of Education Policy ATHL-000.  The First Responder Compliance Form is also conveniently located on the web page.  Any individual currently serving as a first responder at an NCHSAA member school should complete the First Responder Compliance Form straightaway.  In the future, an individual who serves as a first responder at an NCHSAA member school is required to complete the First Responder Compliance Reporting prior to assuming their duties. The First Responder Compliance Reporting will better enable the LEA in which you are employed to monitor compliance with NCAC Rule 16 06E .0206 (e).  On behalf of the Commissioner, thank you for the attention you give to the health and safety of student-athletes under your watch.

First Responder Compliance Reporting is required to be updated annually or as your staff development (SD)/Continuing Education (CE) is completed.  All SD/CE must be maintained without lapse for an individual to remain in good standing as outlined in the educational requirements and serve as an FR throughout the year.  Additional information regarding NCHSAA rules and regulations can be found in the Health and Safety Section (2.3) of the NCHSAA Handbook.
