Each week an athlete in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association is selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media, and school administrators for their outstanding performance.
The OrthroCarolina Performer of the Week for week thirteen of NCHSAA competition goes to Dvdaya Swimmer of Cherokee High School and A’ronne Herring of New Bern High School.
Swimmer a freshman on the Cherokee basketball team dominated in her first ever basketball game as she had 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals to record a triple double. She shoot 8/15 while going 1/5 from the 3 point line and 3/4 from the FT line. Cherokee defeated Highlands 49-33 in the road opener.
Herring a senior member of the New Bern High School football team broke a single game record scoring 7 touchdowns in the 4th round against Rolesville High School. Herring had 20 carries for 287 yards in the 70-34 victory. New Bern plays Millbrook High School in the Regional finals next Friday night.
