POTW Week 22 Winners

Each week an athlete in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association is selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media, and school administrators for their outstanding performance.

The OrthroCarolina Performer of the Week for week twenty-two of NCHSAA competition goes to La’Niya Simes of East Forsyth High School and Maddi Geyer of Union Academy Charter School.

La’Niya Simes has been lights out from all over the court this season for East Forsyth High School. She has just come off an incredible performance against Glenn High School in which she posted a QUADDROUPLE double! Simes totaled in 19 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 steals in a masterpiece of a performance. This senior hooper is also a part of East Forsyth’s 1,000 point club!

Maddi Geyer put on a show at the 1A/2A swim meet on February 9th in which she earned two state titles! She medaled first in the 200 IM (2:06.39) and medaled first in the 500 freestyle (5:04.76). She was also a part of the 200 Medley Relay which medaled in second place and the 400 relay, which medaled in third place. Maddi’s leadership and peer coaching will surely be missed as she continues her swimming career at Colorado State University in the fall.

Congratulations to La’Niya Simes of East Forsyth High School and Maddi Geyer of Union Academy Charter School on an outstanding performance last week!!
