HUNTERSVILLE— Hopewell High School has announced the hiring of its new women’s basketball coach, according to several different media reports.

Tyrelle Anderson has been elevated to the position after serving five years as an assistant coach. Anderson takes over for Gary Richmond, who coached at Hopewell for the last five years and resigned after last season.

Anderson, who is only the fourth coach in the school’s fairly brief history, is a native of Queens, N.Y. Hopewell played in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Western Regional tournament in 2011.
