Each week an athlete in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association is selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media, and school administrators for their outstanding performance.
The OrthoCarolina Performer of the Week for week twenty-eight of NCHSAA competition goes to Aniya Hawkins of Mountain Island Charter High School and Carter Kryszak of Middle Creek High School.
In Aniya’s third meet of the outdoor season, Aniya put on an outstanding performance. Aniya finished in first place in all three events she participated in. Aniya broke the school record in the100 meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles and ran the first leg of the 4×100 meter relay team that broke the school record. She qualified for the regional meet in the 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles and the 4×100 meter relay team.
Carter Kryszak, a Junior on Middle Creek’s Men’s Lacrosse team, was instrumental in leading his team to an impressive 2-0 record this week with his outstanding performance on the field. In their match against Apex Friendship, he went 15/19 on ground balls. Against Green Hope Carter delivered a noteworthy performance going 20/27 on ground balls.
