POTW Week 30 Winners

Each week an athlete in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association is selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media, and school administrators for their outstanding performance.

The OrthoCarolina Performer of the Week for week thirty of NCHSAA competition goes to Molly Widderich of Eastern Alamance High School.

Molly is off to a great start for the women's soccer season leading her team with goals scored (20 of the 56) and second highest player with 7 assists to her teammates. This week she scored 9 goals with 2 assists against Northwood HS and Orange HS alone. Molly is an aggressive striker who seeks the best scoring opportunities for her team but leads the team in shots on goal with 31 and second on the team for shots taken at 49 for the season. Molly has an innate ability to set her teammates up to succeed, not only off the field but also on the field and is very willing to play the ball off to other players who may have a better chance of scoring. Molly's work ethic is exemplary and is the main reason she was chosen last year to be the Junior Captain by her coaches and this year selected as Senior Captain by her fellow players. Although she very successful and was an early Division 1 commit to William and Mary last year she is both humble and empathetic with her friends and teammates.

Congratulations to Molly Widderich of Eastern Alamance High School.
