North Carolina requires all students participating in athletics to receive an annual sports physical. FastMed Urgent Care’s physical meets the criteria of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association. The physical must be completed by a Licensed Physician, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
A sports physical is not the same as a regular physical as it geared toward assessing health and fitness of an individual related to a particular sport they are interested in playing. When playing football, volleyball, tennis, soccer or cross country there’s always a risk of getting hurt, no matter what sport you play.
“The North Carolina High School Athletic Association is pleased to partner with FastMed Urgent Care.  FastMed Urgent Care recently joined the NCHSAA as a Preferred Vendor and this free physical offer is an example of the type of services they can offer to students, athletes, and their families.” said Davis Whitfield, Commissioner for the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.
FastMed Urgent Care does not require an appointment to receive a sports physical, which usually consists of a health history and basic exam, and can be received by walking into a FastMed clinic anytime 7 days a week.
“This free physical offer provides athletes in the Charlotte community with another option as they seek to fulfill the mandatory sports physical requirement necessary for participation in NCHSAA athletic programs. We appreciate FastMed Urgent Care’s commitment to North Carolina’s high school athletes and we look forward to working with them this coming school year,” Commissioner Whitfield added.
