JACK BRITT NAMES NEW HEAD FOOTBALL COACH
FAYETTEVILLE — Jack Britt High School has named its new head football coach, according to The Fayetteville Observer.
Brian Rimpf is the new coach at the Cumberland County school, replacing Richard Bailey, who took the corresponding position at Scotland.
Brian Rimpf said he deliberately went looking for big shoes to fill when he sought his first head coaching job. He found them at Jack Britt High School.
Rimpf played his college football as an offensive lineman at East Carolina, and also played with the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL after being drafted by that team. He also spent seasons in the Arena Football League and the UFL.
A 1999 graduate of Leesville Road in Raleigh, he graduated from ECU in 2003 with degrees in finance and accounting. During the last two years he has worked as an assistant coach at Harnett Central.
Rimpf was actually hired last April as an as assistant on Bailey’s staff. At that time was Rimpf would have become the offensive line coach and replace Scott Barbour, who was being promoted to offensive coordinator.
