New Women’s Lacrosse Records Listed

A couple of potential national record listings and new single-season leaders are among the newest records listed in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association women’s lacrosse state record book.

Dominique Fortunato of Topsail High School in Hampstead scored 20 goals in a single game and 12 in a single half, both of which have been submitted for national consideration and are the North Carolina records in women’s lacrosse for goals in a half and in a game.

In addition, four players turned in outstanding single-season goal-scoring performances to go to the top of that North Carolina chart. Two players broke the 100-goal barrier.

Megan Shortt of Kernersville Bishop McGuinness scored 116 goals during the 2012 campaign, and East Chapel Hill’s Sydney Holman tallied 107. In addition, Amy Colllins of Marvin Ridge had 96 goals for the season and Wilmington Ashley’s Peyton LeCompte had 90 goals.

We appreciate the submission of information and documentation by coaches so that these potential records may be considered.
