On this day in history in the NCHSAA, McKenzie Morenus hit a two-run home run in a big fourth inning as defending state champion Matthews David Butler rallied to beat North Davidson 5-3 in the championship game of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 4-A softball championships at Walnut Creek Softball Complex.   Butler finished the season a perfect 28-0.
