April 28, 1995

On this day in history in the NCHSAA, multi-record holder Shawn Gallagher blasted his way into the baseball record books in helping New Hanover defeat Southern Wayne 16-9. In the game, Shawn blasted five home runs in five consecutive at bats and totaled 11 RBIs. All three totals are NCHSAA records while his five consecutive at bats with a homerun is tied for second all-time nationally. Shawn went on to be drafted in the 5th round of the 1995 MLB Draft.
