ELIZABETHTOWN— The Fayetteville Observer has reported that veteran East Bladen High School head football coach Lenon Fisher is going to retire.
He will retire as coach and physical education teacher effective June 30.
Fisher has been on the staff at East Bladen since 1980. The veteran coach saw his teams win over 250 games and a number of conference championships. The stadium at East Bladen was named in his honor in 2010.
The school will begin its search for a new coach immediately, but does not have a timetable for naming Fisher’s replacement.
According to the newspaper, the announcement was made in a press release from East Bladen principal Jeremy Batchelor.
“Coach Fisher is a tremendous football coach, educator and role model,” Batchelor said in the release. “His presence and hard work have probably been one of the best dropout prevention programs in our school.”
