LINCOLNTON— A veteran of coaching in South Carolina has been named the new head football coach at North Lincoln, according to the Gaston Gazette.
David Maness, who has more than three decades of experience in South Carolina, has been named to head the Knights’ program.
A native of Whitmire, S.C., Maness began his career in 1971 and has coached at eight different schools, including seven in South Carolina. He spent 22 years as head coach at Aynor High School, where his teams won 132 games and nine region championships and went to the state championship game twice.. He won a state title in 2002 at Carvers Bay, and most recently had been an assistant coach at Whitmire High in his hometown.
He has served as an offensive coordinator during many of his stops when he was not head coach. He has coached on the South Carolina staff in the Shrine Bowl in 1989.
