This Day In NCHSAA History

December 6, 2003

On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Greenville Rose was dominant on both sides of the ball as the Rampants defeated Mount Tabor 54-7 in the 4-A state championship game.

Future N.C. State running back Andre Brown led the offense by running for 270 yards and three touchdowns and was named the Wendy’s MVP. The Rampant defense was stifling, holding Mount Tabor to 146 total offensive yards, including minus-five rushing yards, the lowest total since 1989 when the games were first played at neutral sites.

With the win, Greenville Rose earned the first of four consecutive NCHSAA 4-A state football championships.
