ROSE HONORS HALL OF FAME ATHLETES
GREENVILLE — Five former standouts in athletics at Greenville’s J. H. Rose High School have been honored with induction into the Rose Athletic Hall of Fame, according to the Greenville Daily Reflector.
The five inductees included Tommy Jordan, Abdul Jordan, Roswell Streeter, David Lee and Jeffery Hagans.
Former teammate Jerry Clark represented Tommy Jordan, a 1965 Rose graduate who played football, basketball and baseball for the Rampants. Jordan earned all-conference honors in football and basketball his senior year, and he went on to play defensive end at East Carolina.
Abdul Jordan was a tennis standout and a 1995 graduate. He qualified for the state tournament three times. Jordan finished his prep career with a 58-9 singles record and was a three-time MVP for North Carolina A&T.
Streeter earned Rose MVP honors in football and track in 1984, his senior year. He won several track sectional championships and competed at the state meet in the high jump his junior and senior seasons. Streeter went on to play football for ECU, and was a team captain in ’88.
Lee, a 1987 graduate, won a total of eight conference championships at Rose while playing soccer, basketball and golf. Lee was named Rose’s Athlete of the Year in 1987 and went to N.C. State on a golf scholarship.
Hagans wrestled and played football for Rose, graduating in 1975. As a senior, he was named Most Outstanding Player in football and placed third in the Eastern Regionals in wrestling. He went on to play football at East Carolina and was a three-year starter at center.
