Seminar Set At ECU
ExplainingNCAA Regulations
GREENVILLE—East Carolina University will host a special seminar in December to help NCHSAA member schools better understand NCAA regulations for recruiting and academics as well as addressing other topics.
The event will be held at the Murphy Center on the ECU campus on December 9 and is open to guidance counselors as well as coaches and athletic directors.
Speakers will include ECU staff members on the topics of NCAA compliance, initial eligibility upon entering college, as well as college recruiting and dead periods.
There will also be presentations on academic development for athletes by Wilson Beddingfield principal Glenn Reaves and athletic director Jody O’Neal, as well as a session on academic development by Wake County’s Bobby Guthrie.
ECU athletic director Terry Holland and head football coach Ruffin McNeill will welcome the group.
The cost of the seminar, as dictated by NCAA guidelines, is $30 for the first person attending from a school and $20 for each additional person.
Harold Robinson, former athletic director and head football coach at Williamston and now director of high school relations at ECU, is the organizer of the seminar.
