Effective immediately, pep bands and/or music can be played during all dead ball periods preceding and during basketball games. Pep Bands must still be supervised by a school music director or other school personnel, but the NCHSAA Handbook provision that “The band may play only before the game, at halftime, or following the game” has been expanded to allow music during all dead ball periods. NOTE: The music must stop immediately prior to the ball becoming live to start/resume play.
