Brevard Basketball Coach Announces Retirement

       BREVARD– Longtime Brevard High School men’s basketball coach Tim Trantham has announced his retirement, according to a report in the Hendersonville Times-News.

       Trantham has guided the men’s basketball team at Brevard for the past 15 years and was a tremendous player during his own high school and college playing days. He was West Henderson’s leading scorer throughout most of his high school career, graduating in 1984. During his senior season he led the Falcons in scoring, averaging 25.5 points per game.

       He went on to play collegiate ball at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., and he scored over 1,000 points there.

       At Brevard he compiled a 213-176 coaching record with three regular-season conference championships and three conference tournament titles. He finished his career with 302 victories as a head coach as his team posted a 9-15 mark this season.

       The school is currently taking applications for the position.
