Parkwood Player Makes Women’s Rebounding List

MONROE—A Parkwood High School women’s basketball standout has made the North Carolina High School Athletic Association record book for career rebounding.

Emry Tsitouris of Parkwood finished her career with a whopping 1,361 rebounds, which would be good currently for sixth place all-time in those performance listings.

Tsitouris pulled down 242 rebounds as a freshman and then had three very consistent years, with 363 as a sophomore, 383 as a junior and 373 during her senior season.  She will continue her athletic career at USC-Aiken next year.

The Parkwood star averaged 24.1 points per game and 15.3 rebounds during her senior season. She scored 40 points, hauled down 19 boards and blocked three shots in Parkwood’s final game of the year, a triple-overtime 75-72 loss to Thomasville.

Nakisha Stewart of Bunn is the NCHSAA’s all-time career leader with 1,553 rebounds during her four years from 2001-05.
