MONROE– Monroe High School has announced the hiring of Leroy Osborne as its head women’s basketball coach, according to a press release from the high school.
“We are extremely excited about entering into a new era of women’s basketball at Monroe,” said Tim Niedermeyer, athletic director at Monroe. “We look forward to the future of our program.”
Osborne is a 1993 graduate of Monroe High School where he played football and ran track. He has a total of 20 years of coaching experience.
He has been coaching with Monroe Parks & Recreation for 20 years, has 10 years with Monroe Middle School football, and five years at Monroe High where he coaches football, baseball, and junior varsity boys basketball.
Osborne has been coaching under Johnny Sowell and has a record of 70-10 during his time leading the junior varsity program. Coach Osborne was also on the coaching staff of the 2010 state championship basketball team at Monroe.
