A North Carolina High School Athletic Association state swimming champion has added a couple of gold medals from the Youth Olympic Games to her collection of awards.
Hannah Moore, who set an NCHSAA record in the 500-yard freestyle event in February in the state high school swimming and diving championships, won two events in the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China last week while swimming for Team USA.
Moore captured the gold in both the 200 backstroke and the 400 freestyle, sharing the title in the 200 backstroke in a dead heat.
The Youth Olympic Games are held once every four years and an international field of athletes between the ages of 15 to 18 assembled for Olympic-style competition.
Moore is an incoming freshman at the University of Michigan.
