Wells Fargo, along with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, today announced the final standings in the Wells Fargo Conference Cup competitions for the 2014 fall sports season.
The Wells Fargo Cup award, sponsored by Wells Fargo and the NCHSAA, recognizes the schools that achieve the best overall interscholastic athletic performance within each of the state’s four competitive classifications.
The Wells Fargo Conference Cup is a companion to the Wells Fargo Cup and recognizes schools with the best overall interscholastic athletic performances within individual conferences. Wachovia and now Wells Fargo has sponsored the conference awards program since 1980.
In most conferences, points are awarded based on participation and standings in conference play. Each conference determines its own method of awarding points. Conferences are listed alphabetically by classification.
Class 1-A Conference Results
Tar Roanoke 1-A: Granville Central is able to take the top spot after the fall with a championship in men’s soccer and second place finishes in volleyball and men’s and women’s cross country. Second place belongs to Louisburg, with a first place finish in volleyball and runner-up finishes in football and men’s soccer. Southeast Halifax sits in third, thanks to a conference championship in football. Smoky Mountain 1-A: Swain jumps out in front of the field this fall, with a first-place finish in girls cross country and a tie for first in volleyball, followed by a second-place finish for men’s soccer. Robbinsville and Hayesville are neck and neck in second place with football being the top finish for Robbinsville and men’s cross country being the top finish for Hayesville. North Central Athletic Conference 1-A: With a first-place finish in men’s soccer and second place finishes in women’s tennis as well as men’s and women’s cross country, Raleigh Charter owns the top spot in the conference. Not far behind is Franklin Academy, taking first in women’s cross country and second in men’s soccer. Voyager Academy is third, finishing first in women’s tennis and second in volleyball. Northwest 1-A: Bishop McGuinness sits atop the conference after the fall season with top finishes in women’s cross country and women’s tennis. In second place is East Surry, with top finishes in football, women’s golf, men’s soccer, and volleyball. Mount Airy and Walkertown are tied for third, with a top finish in men’s cross country for Walkertown while Mount Airy earned three second-place finishes. Coastal 10 1-A: Camden County takes the lead after the fall with a first place tie in volleyball, and second place finishes in football and men’s soccer. Second place is a tie between Gates County and Perquimans. Gates ended the fall with third place finishes in men’s soccer and football, while Perquimans finished in a first place tie in volleyball and fourth in football. Carolina 1-A: With a sweep of the cross country titles and a strong second place finish in football, Princeton leads the conference after the fall season. Rosewood is second, with a third-place finish in football and fourth in men’s soccer. Lakewood takes third place, with a first place finish in volleyball and a fourth place finish in football. Yadkin Valley 1-A: Gray Stone Day takes the top spot after the fall with division championships in both men’s and women’s cross country, volleyball, men’s soccer, and also in women’s tennis. North takes second in the conference with division titles in men’s soccer and women’s cross country. Thanks to division championships in women’s tennis and men’s cross country, Chatham Central sits in the third spot for the conference. Two Rivers 1-A: Riverside-Martin sits atop in the conference after the fall season, with top finishes in women’s tennis, volleyball and men’s and women’s cross country. Second place belongs to Tarboro, which took home the titles in men’s soccer and also football, while South Creek holds third. Southern Piedmont 1-A: With league championships in volleyball, men’s soccer, women’s tennis, and both men and women’s cross country, Community School of Davidson takes first place after the fall sports season. Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy sits in second place, thanks to a first place tie in football and a runner-up finish in men’s soccer. Third place belongs to Pine Lake Prep, with second place finishes in women’s golf, women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s cross country. Western Highlands 1-A/2-A: Hendersonville squeaks out in front of the pack after the fall season, with championships in women’s tennis and golf and also a first place tie in volleyball with Polk County. Second-place Polk County finished with the first place tie in volleyball and also swept the cross country championships. Third place belongs to Avery County, with runner-up finishes in women’s tennis and golf. Conference Standings: Hendersonville 75, Polk County 74, Avery County 62.5, Charles D. Mountain Valley 1-A/2-A: With championships in men’s and women's cross country, women’s tennis and a first place tie in football, Elkin earned the top spot in the conference after the fall season. Ashe County beat out Wilkes Central for second, thanks to league titles in men’s soccer, women’s tennis and a share of the football crown with Elkin. Third-place Wilkes Central finished in second in both women’s golf and men’s soccer. Four County 1-A/2-A: Clinton is the frontrunner in the conference after the fall sports season, thanks to a first-place finish in women’s tennis, first place tie in football, and a runner-up finish in men’s soccer. Wallace-Rose Hill, which edged out Pender for second, also tied for first in football and took sole possession of the top spot in men’s soccer. Third-place Pender finished with league titles in volleyball and men’s cross country. Three Rivers 1-A/2-A: With a solid fall season, Whiteville sits on top of the conference, thanks to first place finishes in football, men’s soccer, and women’s tennis. Fairmont beats out

Class 2-A Conference Results
Mid State 2-A: Carrboro has raced out to the front of the conference with a stellar fall season, finishing first in men’s and women's cross country, men’s soccer, women’s tennis, and volleyball. Jordan-Matthews took second place, with runner-up finishes in women’s cross country, men’s soccer, and women’s tennis. Right on the heels of second place is Cummings, with runner-up finishes in men’s cross country and football. Conference standings: Carrboro 32, Jordan-Matthews 23, Cummings 22, Reidsville 16, Graham 14, Bartlett Yancey 14.
Central Carolina 2-A: Salisbury is the conference leader this fall, with five first-place finishes including women’s golf, women’s tennis, volleyball, men’s cross country, and men’s soccer. Second-place finishes in women’s golf, women’s tennis, and men’s cross country have West Davidson sitting in second place, while East Davidson is third, finishing second in volleyball and women's cross country, and third in women’s golf and men’s cross country. PAC 6 2-A: With a sweep in cross country and taking second place in football, Randleman earned the conference lead after the fall season. Providence Grove is in second, with a first place finish in women’s tennis and second in volleyball. Trinity is on Providence Grove’s heels, thanks to first place in men’s soccer and second in men’s and women’s cross country. Northern Carolina 2-A: North Carolina School of Science and Math takes the number one spot, winning league championships in men’s and women’s cross country and also women’s tennis. South Granville holds second with a championship in volleyball and a runner-up finish in football. Not far behind South Granville sits Durham School of the Arts, with runner-up finishes in both men and women’s cross country and also a second place finish in women’s tennis. Rocky River 2-A: With a tight race after the fall season, Mount Pleasant and Central Academy are tied at the top of the conference. Mt. Pleasant took first in volleyball and football, while Central Academy took first in men’s cross country and tied for first in men’s soccer. Sitting only a point and a half is Parkwood with a first place finish in women’s tennis. Third place goes West Stanly thanks to a first place finish in girls cross country. East Central 2-A: The top three teams remain close, with Croatan on top thanks to first-place finishes in volleyball and women’s cross country and second-place finishes in men’s soccer and men’s cross country. East Duplin takes second place due to a strong performance in men’s cross country and runner-up finishes in women’s tennis and volleyball. Dixon is in third place. just one point behind East Duplin, taking first in women’s tennis and second in women’s cross country. Southern District 7 2-A: It’s a tight race after the fall season, with Newton Conover holding a small lead over East Lincoln and Lincolnton. Newton-Conover finished on top in women’s soccer, volleyball, and men’s soccer. East Lincoln and Lincolnton are tied for second. East Lincoln won conference crowns in football and women’s cross country, while Lincolnton took runner-up finishes in men’s cross country, men’s soccer, and football. Western Piedmont 2-A: In a fierce battle after the fall season, Forbush and Surry Central are deadlocked in the top spot with Forbush capturing the league titles in men’s soccer and both men’s and women’s cross country, while Surry Central took home the crown in women’s tennis and also finished runner-up in women’s golf and men’s soccer. West Stokes takes third with second-place finishes in football and women’s cross country. Northeastern Coastal 2-A: Northeastern takes control of the conference after the fall season, procuring the top spot with championships in volleyball, football, and men’s cross country. Northeastern also finished as the runner-up in women’s cross country and tied for second in men’s soccer. First Flight edges out Currituck to take second, thanks to championships in women’s tennis and women’s cross country. First Flight also finished in second for men’s soccer. Third place Currituck tied with Northeastern in men’s soccer. Conference Standings: Northeastern 38, First Flight 33, Currituck 32, Edenton Holmes 23, Hertford County 21, Pasquotank 17, Bertie 12.
Eastern Carolina 2-A: The race to the top spot currently belongs to North Lenoir after the fall sports season, with a top finish in women’s cross country. Greene Central had top finishes in men’s soccer and women’s tennis to take second in the conference standings. South Lenoir holds third with a top performance in men’s cross country. Conference Standings: North Lenoir 23, Greene Central 21, South Lenoir 17, Ayden-Grifton 13, Kinston 10, Goldsboro 9.
Eastern Plains 2-A: Washington takes the number one spot in the conference after the fall, thanks to top finishes in football, men’s soccer, and volleyball. Second place belongs to North Pitt, while Beddingfield finishes the fall in third with a top finish in women’s tennis. South Mountain Athletic 2-A/3-A: Shelby is in front of the pack after the fall season, with first place finishes in men’s soccer and cross country, and a runner up finish in football. Kings Mountain takes the second place slot for the fall with conference crowns in volleyball and women’s cross country. Right behind Kings Mountain is Crest, which finished in first place for football and women’s tennis. Class 3-A Conference Results
Southern Carolina 3-A: Marvin Ridge holds off Weddington to finish at the top of the conference in the fall, with top finishes in women’s tennis, women’s golf, women’s cross country, and volleyball. Weddington, only a half-point behind in second place, had top finishes in men’s soccer and cross country. In third place with a top finish in football is Cuthbertson. Conference Standings: Marvin Ridge 37.5, Weddington 37, Cuthbertson 27.5, Piedmont 20, Sun Valley 15, Anson 7.
Coastal 3-A: West Carteret leads the conference after the fall sports season, with championship performances in women’s cross country, women’s golf, and volleyball. Jacksonville beat out Swansboro thanks to a strong first place finish in men’s soccer and a runner-up finish in women’s golf. Swansboro is only two points back in third place with, women’s tennis taking the top spot and a second place performance for women’s cross country. Big 8 3-A: With first place finishes in volleyball, women’s tennis, and men and women’s cross country, as well as a runner-up performance in men’s soccer, Cardinal Gibbons holds the top spot in the conference after the fall season. Chapel Hill recorded a first-place finish in men’s soccer and second place finish in women’s tennis and both men and women’s cross country to claim second place. Cedar Ridge is third, thanks to a second place finish in volleyball and third place finish in women’s tennis. Mid Piedmont 3-A: With a conference crown in volleyball and runner-up finishes in football, women’s cross country, and men’s soccer, Asheboro jumps out in front of the field after the fall. Ledford sits at second place, thanks to championships in women’s tennis and cross country, and a second place finish in men’s cross country. Southwestern Randolph finishes the fall in third, tying Asheboro for second place in men’s soccer and a runner-up finish in volleyball. Cape Fear Valley 3-A: With a spectacular fall season, Terry Sanford leads the conference, taking first place in football, men’s cross country, women’s tennis and women’s golf,. Second place is a tie between to Lee County and Union Pines. Lee County won the volleyball championship and took second place in women’s golf. A first place finish in women’s cross country and second place finishes in women’s tennis and golf has Union Pines right there with Lee County. Big East 3-A: Hunt edges out Fike, taking the conference lead after the fall with a championship in men’s soccer and runner-up finishes in women's cross country, volleyball, and women’s tennis. Fike had solid performances with championship crowns in football, volleyball, and women’s golf. Rocky Mount takes third, with a first-place finish in women’s tennis and a second-place finish in men’s cross country. South Piedmont 3-A: With solid performances in men’s soccer, men’s cross country, and women’s golf, Jesse Carson has the lead after the fall sports season. Trailing Carson by a small margin is Cox Mill, with top finishes in volleyball and women’s tennis. Concord finished out the fall with a strong season in football and women’s tennis, placing it in third place. Two Rivers 3-A: Corinth Holders had a dominant fall sports season, including championships in men’s soccer, men and women’s cross country, a first place tie in football, a runner up finish in women’s golf and tie for second in women’s tennis. Corinth Holders leads the standings with Second place belonging to Cleveland, which tied for first in football, tied for second in women’s tennis, and had runner-up finishes in men’s soccer and men’s cross country. Triton holds third plac,e thanks to league titles in women’s golf and tennis, and also in volleyball. Mid-State 3-A: Northern Guilford leads the conference after the fall with conference titles in men’s cross country, men’s soccer, and women’s tennis. Northern Guilford also took home runner-up finishes in women’s cross country, football, and women’s golf. A tie for second place belongs to Eastern Alamance and Walter Williams. Eastern Alamance finished the fall season with a first-place finish in football and a second-place finish in women’s tennis, while Walter Williams took first in women’s cross country and a second in women’s tennis. Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A: New Bern beats out D.H. Conley to take first place in the conference after the fall, with conference championships in football, men’s soccer, and both men and women’s cross country. Conley has sole possession of second, followed by Rose who sits in third.. Conference Standings: New Bern 40.5, D.H. Conley 36, J.H. Rose 29, South Central 25, C.B. Mountain Athletic 3-A/4-A: T.C. Roberson is in first after the fall, thanks to capturing the title in women’s cross country and a tie for first in women’s tennis with Asheville. Roberson also finished runner-up in men’s cross country and women’s golf. Second place is separated by one point, with A.C. Reynolds edging out North Buncombe, thanks to a championship in men’s soccer and runner-up finishes in volleyball and women’s cross country. North Buncombe took home the conference crown in women’s golf to hold third overall. Conference Standings: T.C. Roberson 78, A.C. Mideastern 3-A/4-A: Hoggard proved its dominance in the fall season, claiming the number one spot in conference with first place finishes in football, volleyball, men’s and women’s cross country. Laney holds off New Hanover to take sole possession of second place with runner-up finishes in men’s soccer and women’s golf, even though New Hanover took home the conference championships in men’s soccer and women’s tennis. Northwestern Athletic 3-A/4-A: Watauga takes the top spot after the fall, dominating both the cross country championships and also finishing in a tie for second place for women’s tennis. Hickory is second with championships in volleyball and women’s tennis. South Caldwell takes the third place spot, with a top finish in women’s golf and a runner-up finish in football. North Piedmont 3-A/4-A: Lake Norman finishes the fall sports season out in front with top performances in football, women’s tennis, and women’s cross country. Mooresville is in the second spot with top finishes in football and women’s tennis, while South Iredell is third based on performances in volleyball and women’s golf. Class 4-A Conference Results
Southeastern 4-A: Pinecrest takes control of the conference after the fall with a dominating performance, taking championships in volleyball, women’s golf, women’s tennis, men and women’s cross country, and also tying in men’s soccer with Richmond. While Richmond tied with Pinecrest in soccer, it also finished runner-up in football and women’s golf to take second place. Scotland finished third, thanks to a championship on football and a second place finish in volleyball and men’s cross country. Conference Standings: Pinecrest 39.5, Richmond 27.5, Scotland 24, Lumberton 20, Purnell Swett 18, Hoke 17.
Mid-South 4-A: Jack Britt is the frontrunner after the fall with first place finishes in volleyball, women’s tennis, men’s soccer, and women’s golf as well as a second place finish in women’s cross country. Cape Fear is second with four runner-up finishes in volleyball, men’s soccer, women’s golf, and football which was a tie. South View sits at third despite sweeping the cross country championships and taking second in women’s tennis. Piedmont Triad 4-A: Sweeping the cross country championships and taking the crown in volleyball and women’s tennis puts Northwest Guilford in the lead after the fall season. Ragsdale settles for second place, with a top performance in women’s golf and runner-up finishes in men’s and women’s cross country, volleyball, and women’s tennis. East Forsyth took home the championship in football and men’s soccer, while also finishing second in women’s cross country, to end the fall in third. Southwest Wake 4-A: Green Hope is the conference leader after the fall season, capturing the conference championship in volleyball, women’s cross country, and men’s soccer. Panther Creek and Apex are in a deadlock for second with Panther Creek taking the crown in women’s tennis and finishing in a first place tie for football, while Apex took home the men’s cross country championship and also finishing second in men’s soccer. Catholic took home first-place finishes in women’s tennis, men’s soccer, and football, while women’s golf finished in second place. Not far behind in third place is Ardrey Kell, despite winning women’s golf and having runner-up finishes in volleyball, women’s tennis, and women’s cross country. Greater Neuse River 4-A: In a competitive fight for first, Clayton comes out on top thanks to a conference title in women’s tennis and a second-place finish in women’s golf. West Johnston takes second despite sweeping the cross country championships and a runner-up finish in women’s tennis. Garner solidified third place with league titles in football and women’s golf.
