This Day In NCHSAA History

February 4, 1966

On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Durham’s Hillside High School set a single-game men’s basketball scoring record by rolling past Rocky Mount Booker T. Washington by a score of 147-57. The record-breaking Hornet team became known as the “Pony Express.” Those schools were members of the old North Carolina High School Athletic Conference.
