GREENSBORO — Southeast Guilford High School has renamed its baseball field to honor former Falcons coach Kevin Callahan, according to the Greensboro News and Record.
The ceremony took place before a recent Southeast Guilford game against Wheatmore.
Callahan spent 34 years at Southeast Guilford as a special education teacher and a coach before his sudden death in July of 2013. He led the Falcons to the NCHSAA class 4-A state championship series and his teams posted 376 victories in his 24 seasons as head coach at Southeast.
Callahan’s close friend Todd Frazier and one of his former players, Wheatmore coach Bret Garrett, led the campaign to name Southeast’s baseball field Coach Callahan Field in his memory.
