Braswell Stepping Down As Hoggard Football Coach

WILMINGTON—Scott Braswell is stepping down as the head football coach at Hoggard High School, although he will remain as athletic director, according to a report in the Wilmington Star-News.

Braswell had surgery for a cancerous tumor on his back last August and has been dealing with the aftermath for that procedure.

Braswell has been the head coach at Hoggard since 1997 and his teams have won over 200 games during his career, including 167 at Hoggard.  He served as an assistant at West Charlotte for several years and was head coach at Olympic in Charlotte for four years from 1990 to ’94 prior to his heading to Wilmington.

Under Braswell’s leadership, the football program has won 12 conference championships.  He has served as athletic director there since 2008.
