CHARLOTTE—Brad Bowles has been named as the new head football coach at Providence High School, according to a report in the Charlotte Observer.

         Bowles will replace Justin Hardin, who left the school in March to assume the head coaching duties at Independence.

         Bowles is a 2004 graduate of East Tennessee State University who served as an assistant coach at Goose Creek in South Carolina for three years and then was head football coach and athletic director at St. John’s High in Charleston County in the Palmetto state for two.  His squad last year was 8-4 and posted the school’s first playoff victory since 2006.

         He will be the fifth head football coach at Providence since the school opened in 1989.

         The Panthers posted a record of 10-4 a  year ago, getting the whole way to the NCHSAA state 4-AA quarterfinals in the postseason.
