            On this day in history in the NCHSAA, North Buncombe secured the state women's 3-A track and field championship on the last event in the state meet at North Carolina A&T University. Led by Sage Profitt, the meet's Most Outstanding Performer, North Buncombe finished fourth in the four by 400 relay and vaulted into first place. Seven schools had entered the final event separated by just four points. Fayetteville Westover finished second.
