Richmond Senior Baseball Coach Reaches Milestone

ROCKINGHAM— Ricky Young, head baseball coach at Richmond Senior High School, passed a coaching career milestone earlier this month.

Coach Young won his 300th game on May 7 in the Southeastern Conference tournament championship game as the Raiders beat Purnell Swett 4-3. Coach Young won his 301st in the first round of the NCHSAA 4-A playoffs as the Raiders hosted and defeated a talented R.J. Reynolds team 5-2.

Richmond lost last Friday 3-0 to North Davidson to finish the season 17-8 overall.

Young has taken two teams to the state finals, West Columbus to the 1A finals several years ago and Richmond Senior to the 4A finals in 2014.

The Southeastern Conference tournament championship marked the Raiders' second consecutive tourney title to go with three straight regular season crowns.

      Congratulations to Coach Young!
