ASHEVILLE— David McCoy has been named as the new head coach of the Asheville High School softball team, according to a report in the Asheville Citizen-Times.

He replaces David Burdette, who had been Asheville’s coach for the past five years.

McCoy brings 15 years of coaching experience to his new position, including his time as head of the Jackson County Little League.

He coached the Jackson County Big League (18 and under) team that won district and state championships last summer before traveling to the Southeast Regional tournament in Clearwater, Fla.
