Forestview Receiver Listed In NCHSAA Record Book

    GASTONIA—Forestview High School receiver Mykelti Armstrong had a great 2013 season, and now has been added to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Record book.

    Armstrong, who was named to the North Carolina Shrine Bowl team, had 101 receptions for 1,444 yards during the ’13 campaign. His 101 catches put him in a tie for eighth all-time in terms of receptions recorded in a single season; the state record is currently 125 held by Alex Moore of East Chapel Hill and set in 2011.

   The 1,444 reception yards is in the top 25 for a single season in that category.

    The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Armstrong set a Gaston County record with his 101 catches, while his season total for receiving yards and receiving touchdowns 20) are each second in Gaston County history.101 receptions this season. For his career, according to the Gaston Gazette Armstrong finished first in the county record book in receptions (155), second in yards (2,500) and second in touchdown receptions (34).

    In addition, Forestview quarterback Logan Bradley made the single season performance list for passing yards, with 3,190 for the 2013 campaign, and had 6,008 for his three-year varsity career.  Colton Rouse also was added as the Forestview place kicker connected on 76 points after touchdown during the ’13 season.
