Green Hope and Panther Creek High Schools will be competing against one another in a unique all-sports rivalry this year, according to a report in The Raleigh News and Observer.

     The competition will be known as the “Fight For 55,” named for North Carolina highway 55 that separates the two Wake County schools by just two and a half miles.

     The competition will be based on a points system that gives one point to each varsity head-to-head victory.  For individual sports like swimming, cross country, track and golf, the point will go to the school that finishes higher in the conference championship. There will be a total of 34 points available in battles between the two schools or in conference championship events.

     According to the paper, the competition could come down to a final “Super Saturday” which will be scheduled in the spring with a whole series of games.  Panther Creek will host the games this year on “Super Saturday” on April 28, 2016, as Leesville travels to Panther Creek to play varsity contests in men’s lacrosse, men’s tennis, softball, baseball and men’s soccer.
